The Whitehaven Group currently operates the Canyon and Tarrawonga open cut mines near Boggabri and the Werris Creek mine north of Quirindi.

The company is currently developing a major underground mine south of Narrabri and a new open cut mine (Rocglen) east of Boggabri.

The company also operates the Coal Handling and Preparation Plant (CHPP) and rail loader at Gunnedah.
